…commissions OSHIA hall
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, on Tuesday commissioned the newly completed Osun Health Insurance Agency Multipurpose Hall and flagged off the free enrolment of traditional rulers and their queens into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme.
Speaking at the event in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke described the twin initiatives as landmark achievements of his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare for all residents of the state.
According to him, “The free enrollment initiative is another bold step by our administration to ensure that traditional rulers and their queens enjoy qualitative healthcare services without financial hardship, in line with our people-centred health policy,” the Governor stated.
He said the administration has delivered across all sectors of the economy and deserves re-election based on its performance.
“On this note, I commission the OHIS Multipurpose Hall and flag off the enrolment of our royal fathers into the state health insurance scheme,” Governor Adeleke declared.
The Governor listed significant milestones recorded by his administration to include over 300 kilometres of roads, more than 200 rehabilitated primary healthcare centres, over 150 rehabilitated schools, payment of salary and pension liabilities, cooperative financing, agricultural support, and the ongoing construction of the state’s five-star stadium.

Executive Secretary of the Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, commended the Governor for providing an enabling environment for the agency and for his people-oriented programmes in the health sector. He described the enrolment of royal fathers and their queens as strategic.
“This enrolment goes beyond providing health insurance coverage to our traditional rulers. By enrolling them into the scheme.”
“We are recognizing their invaluable contributions to community development and empowering them to serve as ambassadors and advocates for social health insurance at the grassroots,” Dr. Akindele said.
He explained that royal fathers are custodians of culture and trusted voices whose influence transcends social, political and religious divides.
“Their personal experience with the Scheme, he added, would inspire confidence among their subjects and accelerate voluntary enrolment across communities”.
Akindele also noted that the OSHIA Multipurpose Hall represents a lawful and strategic institutional investment undertaken in strict conformity with the enabling law of the Agency, with due regard for transparency, accountability and value for public resources.
In his closing remarks, Akindele said these interventions reflect the compassionate and people-centered leadership of Governor Adeleke.
“Collectively, they demonstrate that OSHIA is committed to transforming lives, protecting destinies and advancing social justice through equitable access to qualitative healthcare,” he stated,
He however maintained that, the Agency remains resolute in ensuring every resident of Osun can access quality healthcare without financial hardship
