The Austrian Development Cooperation through the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management offers about 30 scholarships to applicants from priority countries as well as other developing countries. The Tourism School in Salzburg has an outstanding international reputation and a long tradition. They train future entrepreneurs and employees according to the needs of the international tourism and leisure industry.

- € 205.- pocket money per month
Not included in this scholarship are:
- Transfer from the Airport to the hostel and back to the Airport when leaving
- vVisa fee: the visa fees have to be paid by the applicants. The entry visa is approximately USD 110, – and the 8 months residence permit, which will be issued in Salzburg, costs approximately Euro 120.
Scholarship for Developing countries include:
- Tuition fee
- Health insurance
- Food from Monday – Friday
- Excursions (except field trip to ITB Berlin)
- Euro 205.- pocket money per month
Not included in the Scholarship are:
- Accommodation: accommodation costs have to be covered by students who are awarded this scholarship. It is Euro 247, – per month. (Euro 1976, – in total). The total accommodation fee of Euro 1.976, – has to be remitted in advance before admission letter can be issued.
- Flight ticket: Students who are on this scholarship have to cover their own travel expenses from their countries to Salzburg and back.
- Visa fee: the visa fees have to be paid by the applicants. The entry visa is approximately Euro 110, – and the 8 months residence permit, which will be issued in Salzburg, costs approximately Euro 120.
Requirements
To apply for the Government of Austria ITH Fully-funded Masters Scholarships at ITH, candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 18 – 35 years of age
- Have a secondary school leaving certificate (high school diploma)
- Have a minimum of one year‘s experience within the tourism and hospitality industry
- Non-native English speakers must have an English qualification e.g. TOEFL, Cambridge 1st Certificate, IELTS or equivalent
Successful candidates should be ambitious and open-minded with good organisational and time management skills
Selection Process
Important Dates:
- Deadline for the submission of application form: March 31st 2024
- Beginning of Courses: 30th September 2024
- Visa Application: You can start with the Visa application process right after receiving the letter of acceptance in May 2024.
Application Documents
Please make sure that all documents are translated into English! All documents may be handed in as copies/scans. Authenticity of the certificate must be produced on demand.
- Passport (valid at least until end of September 2023)
- Birth certificate
- GCE-A`Level certificate or equivalent
- Other academic certificates, diplomas, vocational training, degrees
- Transcripts of your diploma, degree, etc
- Curriculum Vitae
- Proof of Occupation of one year experience in the hotel or tourism industry
- Recommendation letter (if possible from your present employer)
- Certificate proving knowledge of English on B2 level or a Certificate of a school/university that your education was conducted in English (TOEFL IBT score: min. 65-78 points or TOEFL paper based test score: 513 – 547 or TOEFL CBT score: 183 – 210 or IELTS score: min. 5.5 or Cambridge: min. FCE) or
- Letter of Motivation covering the following topics (1-2 pages) Why are you applying for this course and what are your expectations? Why have you chosen Hotel/Tourism management and Teacher Training/Entrepreneurship? What are your professional plans after your return and how will you use the knowledge gained at ITH.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (if available)
Method of Application
Tips for a succesful scholarship application:
- Fill out the application form properly and legibly.
- Make sure you supply all the required information and attach the entire required documents.
- Send translated English or German documents if required.
- Check your email regularly and included a working e-mail address and phone number
- Apply on time. Applications after 31st March 2024 will not be processed.
- Provide all admission requirements (read the ITH application form, and visa process carefully).
- Clarify any doubts with the ITH office and Austrian embassy/consulate
- In your motivation letter make clear why you are interested in the program and why you should receive a scholarship
Only appropriate applications will be considered.
Students may attend ITH by private means or through scholarships given by the Austrian Development Cooperation.
Limited number of scholarships are offered every year by the Austrian Development Cooperation. Please be aware that being offered a scholarship is not automatic and very competitive.

- Application Process – all applications should be sent directly to the Institute via email or postal service.
Submission deadline is the 31st of March 2024 (all applications have to be received by the ITH office the latest by 31st March 2024) - You will receive a confirmation by email that you application has been received and processed.
- Confirmation – You will be informed about the result of your application in May 2024. If you are awarded a scholarship you will receive a letter of acceptance.
