The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by Chris Nkwonta challenging the emergence of a member of the House of Representatives, Sam Nwogu, as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
Nkwonta had approached the court to challenge Nwogu’s emergence as the winner of the APC House of Representatives primaries for the constituency.
Delivering judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, held that the suit lacked merit and affirmed that Nwogu duly emerged as the candidate of the party through a valid and lawful primary election conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the APC guidelines.
