The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Zamfara State Chapter, has lauded Governor Dauda Lawal for approving and implementing the new Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for veterinary doctors in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Gusau, the Zamfara State Chairman of the NVMA, Dr. Mukhtar Salihu Anka, PhD, said the development was a significant milestone for the veterinary profession in the state.
The statement read in part: “The implementation of the new salary scale is a significant milestone for the veterinary profession in Zamfara State and demonstrates the administration’s commitment to staff welfare, professional recognition, and the strengthening of the livestock and animal health sector.
“Veterinary doctors play a critical role in safeguarding animal health, improving livestock productivity, protecting public health, controlling zoonotic diseases, ensuring food safety, and contributing to the economic development of the state.

“The NVMA particularly appreciates His Excellency for recognising the importance of veterinary services and taking concrete steps to address the longstanding concerns regarding appropriate remuneration and professional welfare of veterinary doctors in the state.”
The statement concluded by reaffirming the NVMA’s commitment to supporting the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Dauda Lawal, in advancing animal health, livestock development, public health and the overall socio-economic development of the state.
