Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP) has suspended its ongoing strike at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for two weeks.
The union chairman, Mr Oladayo Olabampe, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Tuesday.
According to him, the union announced the suspension of the strike in a letter signed by its executives and dated September 21, 2026, addressed to the Chief Medical Director of UCH.

“The suspension takes effect from Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, following an intervention by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMOHSW),” Olabampe said.
He further said the decision was in response to an appeal by ministry representatives over the dispute involving Dr Adeyinka Ishola, Director of Pharmaceutical Services.
“Due to the intervention by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the national secretariat of this union has approved that the ongoing strike action be suspended for two weeks with effect from Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026.
“The union has directed its members to resume their duties with effect from the same date,” the NUAHP Chairman said.
He, however, said that the suspension was for two weeks, indicating that the union expected further engagement on the matter during the period.
NAN reports that the union had embarked on the industrial action over its demand for the immediate and unconditional implementation of the decision of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare concerning the case involving Ishola.
