The Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC) has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Bayero University, Kano (BUK), as part of efforts to strengthen disease prevention and infection control within the university community.
The items were presented on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the university by the Director-General of KNCDC, Professor Muhammad Adamu Abbas.
Presenting the equipment, Abbas reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with BUK, particularly in disease outbreak prevention, early detection and effective response.
Receiving the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor of BUK, Professor Haruna Musa, fsi, expressed appreciation to KNCDC for the gesture, describing the donation as a significant contribution to protecting students and promoting a cleaner and safer hostel environment.
The donated items included face masks, gowns, examination gloves and surgical gloves.
The university said the latest intervention built on previous support from KNCDC, which included the provision of essential medicines and laboratory materials.
The agency has also supported capacity building at the university by training a University Health Services laboratory scientist in sample management, transportation and referral.
According to the two institutions, the partnership is expected to further strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms for infectious disease threats within the university and the wider community.
