The search for Nigeria’s next beauty queen has begun, with entries now open for the 46th Miss Nigeria pageant.
The Miss Nigeria Organisation announced the commencement of applications in a post on X on Friday by its Chairman and Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic, alongside the reigning 45th Miss Nigeria, Doris Ogah.
The organisation also announced plans for the Miss Nigeria Travelogue, which will take the queen and her team to major cities across the country for live auditions.
The organisation invited eligible Nigerian women to submit their entries ahead of the audition tour.
“Entries open now,” the organisation stated.
Candidates interested in contesting for the 46th Miss Nigeria are required to complete an online application form and provide supporting documents and materials before they can be considered for auditions.
Who can apply?
According to the application form, candidates must meet several requirements to be eligible for the pageant.
Applicants must:
* Be between 22 and 28 years old.
* Be Nigerian citizens.
* Be in good health and character.
* Not be married, mothers or pregnant.
* Be able to speak and write English fluently.
* Not have tattoos or body piercings.
How to apply
Applicants are required to complete the 46th Miss Nigeria Application Form accurately and provide all the requested information.
The organisation advised candidates to pay attention to the instructions on the form and ensure that all required documents are available before beginning the application.
Candidates are also required to name their files properly using their first and last names alongside the relevant file name.
Applicants are advised not to submit the form more than once and to keep a copy of their responses for future reference.
After submitting the form, candidates are expected to wait for communication from the organisation regarding auditions and subsequent stages of the selection process.
What information will applicants provide?
The application form requires candidates to provide their:

* Phone number
* Date of birth
* Social media handles
* State of residence
* Home address
* State of origin
* Local government area of origin
* Geopolitical zone
* Occupation
* Hobbies and special skills
* Highest educational qualification
* Educational institutions attended
* Previous participation in beauty pageants, if any
Candidates will also be asked to write a brief account of themselves, explaining their background, hopes, dreams and unique experiences.
The essay must be 300 words or less, contain the applicant’s name and be uploaded as a properly named PDF document of less than 1MB.
Documents required
Applicants are required to upload several documents as part of the application.
These include a valid means of identification, such as a National Identification Card, voter’s card, driver’s licence or international passport.
The identification document or image must be less than 1MB.
Candidates must also provide a birth certificate and a State of Origin/Local Government Certificate, with the relevant documents or images uploaded according to the size requirements on the application form.
What should the application photos look like?
Applicants are required to submit photographs for verification.
The organisation instructed contestants to wear a white top or tank top, blue jeans and heels for the photographs.
The pictures should be taken against a plain grey background, with the organisation requesting a fresh face and preferably no make-up.
Candidates are required to submit:
* One headshot
* One full-length photograph
The files should also be properly named before they are uploaded.
Applicants must also make a video
One of the major parts of the application is a short introductory video.
Candidates are required to submit a two- to three-minute video explaining why they believe they should become the 46th Miss Nigeria.
The video must include:
* A brief introduction of the candidate
* Reasons why she should be the 46th Miss Nigeria
* A full-body catwalk, walking towards and away from the camera
The video should be recorded in a well-lit hallway or open space and must have good resolution.
Candidates are also instructed to wear a white top or tank top, blue jeans and heels, while recording against a plain, contrasting background.
The video must not exceed 100MB.
What happens after applying?
Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee participation in the physical auditions.
The organisation said candidates should wait for a response regarding auditions and further steps.
The Miss Nigeria Organisation is also expected to announce dates and locations for the Miss Nigeria Travelogue, through which the queen and her team will visit major cities for live auditions.
Candidates are therefore advised to monitor the organisation’s official channels for updates.
Other consent requirements
Applicants are also asked whether they consent to the use of their image and likeness by the Miss Nigeria Organisation and its partners for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes.
The form also seeks applicants’ consent to the organisation sharing basic information, including names, email addresses and profile information, with its partners.
The organisation stated that sensitive documents and confidential information would not be disclosed under the data-sharing provision.
With applications now open, eligible Nigerian women interested in competing for the 46th Miss Nigeria title can begin preparing their documents, photographs, essay and audition video ahead of the selection and audition stages.
