Kogi State Government has urged residents to remain calm and vigilant following reports of an Ebola outbreak in the neighbouring Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The State Ministry of Health, in a public health advisory, called on residents to maintain high standards of personal hygiene, observe preventive measures and remain alert to symptoms associated with the deadly virus.
The advisory, signed by the Commissioner for Health and Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, emphasised the need for strict adherence to public health guidelines to minimise the risk of a possible spread of the disease into the state.

Adeiza advised residents to wash their hands regularly and avoid direct contact with bodily fluids, particularly in situations where exposure to the virus is suspected.
He listed some symptoms associated with Ebola to include fever, severe weakness, headache, vomiting and diarrhoea, urging residents to seek medical attention promptly if they experience any of the signs.
The commissioner also advised anyone who suspects possible exposure to the virus to report immediately to the appropriate health authorities for necessary assessment and guidance.
He stressed that individuals experiencing symptoms should avoid close contact with other people and seek immediate medical care to reduce the risk of potential transmission.
Adeiza further urged residents to cooperate with public health officials carrying out disease surveillance, investigations and contact-tracing activities, noting that public cooperation was essential to preventing the spread of the virus.
He cautioned against the circulation of unverified information and the stigmatisation of individuals suspected of having the disease.
The commissioner advised residents to obtain information from credible sources and rely on official government health advisories for accurate updates on the situation.
He reiterated the importance of public awareness, personal hygiene and early reporting of suspected cases as critical measures for protecting individuals and communities against the potential threat of Ebola.
