Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has questioned whether citizens have the moral right to condemn politicians for looting public funds when they allegedly make excessive financial demands on candidates seeking elected office.
Yesufu made the argument on X, saying the demands politicians face while campaigning could encourage them to recover their expenses after winning elections.
“I have asked repeatedly, do we have the moral justification to tell elected politicians not to loot?” she wrote.
She argued that citizens often demand money from candidates during campaigns, then express outrage when those who win office attempt to recoup their spending, sometimes with profit.
