Mrs Remi Adesanya, mother of 17-year-old girl, Hannah has cried out to well-meaning spirited individuals and corporate bodies to extend hands of help to save her dying daughter.
Hannah Adesonya, 17, has been diagnosed with a tumour on her left jaw and may die unless surgery which will cost N500, 000 is carried out.
According to Dr Taye Toni of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), who first handled Hannah’s case, the tumor has to be removed so that it will not spread.
Taye Toni who disclosed this to our Correspondent vide a telephone interview, advised that in removing the affected bone, it has to be a major operation.
He added that the affected bone will be removed and replaced with an implant, something like an iron saying, “The iron will be put there to help form a new bone.”
The patient is referred to a centre in Gombe for the surgical operation, billed for Tuesday May 7, 2024.
Hannah’s mother, Remi, has been a single mother since her husband, Yomi Adesanya abandoned the family when Hannah was just three years old.
Remi is in a dilemma because she has no money for her daughter’s life-saving surgery.
The helpless mother is appealing to well-meaning Nigerians to come to her aid so that her daughter, who just wrote her O-level examination, will not die.
“When I noticed that the left part of her face around her jaw was swollen, I initially thought that it was tooth pain,” Remi explained.
According to her, “It appeared like a boil but my sister suggested that we rush her to hospital as the pain was getting worse. I first took her to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi where an x-ray was done and she was referred to ATBUTH.”
Remi Adesanya added, “After examining my daughter, the doctor expressed surprise and called his colleagues.”
“They came to see and they too were surprised and the doctor asked me to go back to the Specialist hospital to do Citiscan,” she stressed.
The worried mother said, “The result was brought back to the doctor who reported that my daughter has no left cheekbone and surgery, which will cost N500, 000 is required to correct it.”
She lamented that, “I don’t even have N15, 000 but the doctors explained that the surgery has to be done because it can affect my daughter’s brain. I am appealing to well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to come to my aid to save my daughter’s life”
