The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has reacted to an attack on his motorcade in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
Arogidigba Global Journal reports that Obi, who visited Calabar for a town hall meeting alongside his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, came under attack by suspected thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The suspected political thugs were seen in a viral video throwing stones at his convoy in an apparent attempt to prevent him from gaining access to the venue.
Reacting to the incident while addressing his supporters, Obi blamed Nigerians for allowing such attacks to persist.
He said, “They said APC people were throwing stones and some people were running back. My security people told me of another route, but I told them, in Nigeria? I’m coming down to go and meet them.
“Before we knew what was happening, the thugs left. All these things are happening because Nigerians allow it. We are not going to allow it in 2027.”
