Vice-President Senator Kashim Shettima has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful and eligible voters in Nasarawa State to cast their ballots not only for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but also for all candidates seeking elective offices on the platform of the ruling party.
Shettima made the call on Wednesday while speaking at a rally held in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Listing infrastructure projects undertaken in the North-Central state under the present administration, Shettima assured residents that the Federal Government would continue to support the state government in promoting the well-being of citizens.
He, however, said voters must be ready to reward the ruling party by ensuring victory for President Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Aliyu Wadada, and the party’s candidates for the National and State Assemblies.
He said: “People of Nasarawa, today I bring you greetings and good news. I urge you all to come together and have a single voice. The government of President Tinubu and that of Abdullahi Sule are very concerned about the well-being of the people, and we have seen all the hardship endured by the people.
“Of course, people have suffered a lot, especially when it comes to the use of roads for transportation and even the easy movement of our farm materials. To this end, the government has built a bypass road linking Nasarawa to Makurdi, up to Shendam.
“This is why the President is promising that if you vote him in for a second term, he will do more for you. Also, to this end, I urge you to vote Senator Ahmed Wadada to become the governor of the state.
“The main message from the President is that we vote APC from top to bottom and bottom to top. We don’t want to hear that they vote for APC in the Senate and leave the House of Representatives aside, nor vote for the President on the APC platform and leave the rest. What we want is APC in all corners.
“I use this medium to appreciate your efforts and urge you again to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, said a fresh mandate for President Tinubu would guarantee the seamless completion of ongoing infrastructure projects across the country.
Giving an account of the National Assembly’s stewardship, he noted that the harmonious relationship between the Presidency and the leadership of the National Assembly had secured presidential assent for 78 bills.
He said: “We, members of the National Assembly, are very proud of Mr President because the relationship between the National Assembly and the Executive has never been better than in this administration. Because of the cordial relationship between the Executive and the Legislature, an unprecedented 78 bills were passed within the last three years. No government before now has ever, ever produced up to 40 bills.
“But this time around, in three years, the cordial relationship between the Legislature and the Executive has metamorphosed and produced 78 bills that have been assented to. We urge you, the people of Nigeria, to support this government because most of the projects that are currently ongoing cannot be realised unless and until Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is returned for another four years.”
