Pharmacists in Delta state’s public service have been urged to maintain high professional standards in view of their crucial role in health care delivery.
Head of Service in the state, Mr. Reginald Bayoko who made the call when the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN), Delta State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Pharmacist Stella Onyegasi, paid him a courtesy call in Asaba on Thursday, acknowledged the State government’s commitment to harnessing its workforce’s potential for effective service delivery.
He noted that healthcare delivery remains a top priority for the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
The Head of Service assured the delegation that the government was exploring solutions to address the challenges faced by pharmacists.

Pharmacist Onyegasi had earlier highlighted various serious issues affecting pharmacists in the state, which included acute shortage of pharmacists due to ‘japa’ syndrome and request for appointment of pharmacy consultants in the state.
She emphasized the need for proper integration of pharmacists into the healthcare value chain administration as critical stakeholders.
The visit underscores the importance of collaboration between professional bodies and the government to achieve sustainable development in Delta State.
By recognizing the vital role pharmacists play, the state government demonstrates its commitment to improving healthcare delivery and promoting dialogue with key stakeholders.
