The Zamfara state commissioner of health, Dr Aisha Anka has urged health workers in the state to be proactive and dedicated to their responsibility, saying she acknowledged stakeholders, and partners for their desire to revitalise the health sector in line with Sector Wed Approach (SWAP) in the state.
In a statement issued by the information officer of the Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah said the commissioner disclosed this during the 4-day workshop held in Sokoto.
The commissioner acknowledged all the stakeholders as key to the state’s desired aim to revitalise the health sector in line with the Sector Wed Approach (SWAP) in the state.
The workshop was aimed at harmonization of Zamfara State Health 2025 at the MDA level on the Annual Operational Plan (AOP) to revitalize the health sector in the state.
The Commissioner, who was represented by Permanent Secretary Malan Basiru Surajo Gusau appreciated Governor Dauda Lawal for his continued support to the Ministry of Health and health sectors in the state.
Aisha emphasised four key aspects of the AOP which include reviewing the implementation of the 2024 Health Sector AOP which include partner-supported activities; finalising the Health Sector Situation Analysis for the 2025 AOP; providing Cross Validation of Planned Activities across MDAs to reduce duplication and improve efficiency; and harmonising the Health Facilities and Primary Health Care Board AOP.
In his remark, the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Aminu D. Umar, encouraged the participants to create a comprehensive annual operational plan to improve the state’s health indices.
In a vote of thanks, the Zamfara State Sector Wed Approach (SWAP) Desk Officer- Dr. Yusuf Haske further appreciated all the stakeholders and the state esteem partners for their dedication in ensuring state compliance and Keying into the National Health Sector Investment and Reform by finalising the Zamfara State 2025 SWaP AoP.
He assured that, Zamfara State Health Sector will benefit a lot from the SWap Approach.
In their sperate remarks, representative of partners that include WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, SIGHT SAVERS, MARIES STOPES, International Rescue Committee, Medicine San Frontiers, UNFPA, GHSC, LHSS, HSCL, ACASUS and SOLINA GROUP assured to continue assisting Ministry of Health with program implementation in the state.
