The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, of deceiving members of the Labour Party, LP, and other opposition parties into joining the Rainbow Coalition he is championing in the state.
Arogidigba Global Journal recalls that the coalition unveiled its preferred candidates on Tuesday, endorsing candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the coalition drew its membership from multiple political parties including the Labour Party and other opposition parties.
Reacting, Rivers ADC spokesperson, Chizy Enyi, said in a video clip he shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday that political parties fielding candidates for the 2027 general elections were deceived into the coalition.
According to Enyi, Wike and members of his group only endorsed candidates from APC and PDP factions, leaving others behind.
He said, “Just yesterday, the deceptive members of the Rainbow Coalition led by Nyesom Wike met and gave flag to only factional members of APC and PDP who are supporters of Wike.
“The coalition abandoned other political parties, which they claimed are parts of the Rainbow Coalition.
“They abandoned the Labour Party, LP, PRP and others. None of them was given any opportunity to be an ordinary state House of Assembly member.
