The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of ex-Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, in connection with alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery.
The Force spokesperson, CSP Ani Iniedu, who confirmed the arrest, said the APC chieftain had been arrested, interrogated and released on bail.
Iniedu noted that the ex-governor had been directed to report to the police for further interrogation following his release on bail on Monday.
Senator Okorocha was arrested at a hotel in Abuja while attending a social function.
The police, however, did not disclose details of the alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery but insisted that the ex-governor remained under investigation.
The police said they had obtained a bench warrant for his arrest following Okorocha’s alleged failure to honour invitations to appear for interrogation.
