Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have overrun a Lakurawa terrorist enclave in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, neutralising several terrorists and recovering weapons and five motorcycles.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Thursday, October 15, 2026, during a clearance mission to dismantle terrorist hideouts and restrict the group’s activities in the area.
According to an official report made available to the Nigerian Tribune at the Army Headquarters in Abuja, troops of Sector 2 advanced through identified terrorist enclaves around Alela, Bilange and Kandam villages towards Waria Forest, where they engaged the terrorists.
The report said the troops overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower during a firefight, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.
The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists and neutralised some of them, according to the report.
