Anambra State Police Command has debunked a viral social media report alleging that a military helicopter dropped unknown items in a bush located between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
The command said its operatives were immediately deployed to the area following the alert, but investigations revealed that the report was false and that there were no security concerns at the location.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Awka, the state capital, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the area remained calm and normal activities were ongoing.

“The report prompted the Command to immediately deploy operatives to the area for verification and assessment,” Ikenga said.
“So far, findings revealed that the alleged location remains calm, with no suspicious objects or any security concerns observed.”
He added that security personnel had continued routine surveillance in and around the area to ensure public safety and sustain confidence in the state’s security architecture.
Ikenga quoted the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, as urging residents to disregard the false alarm and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.
“The Commissioner of Police urges members of the public to disregard the false alarm and desist from spreading unverified information capable of causing panic and undermining public confidence in the security architecture of the state,” the statement said.
The police commissioner reiterated the command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders to maintain peace and security across the state.
He also encouraged residents to verify security-related information through official channels and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
