The Kano State Police Command has announced that the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Customs Service Training College will hold separate live-ammunition shooting exercises at Hawan Kalibawa in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police exercise will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 6 am to 6 pm.
The Customs Training College exercise is scheduled to run from Monday, July 20, to Thursday, July 23, 2026, also between 6 am and 6 pm each day.
The command advised residents of Dambazau, Gangaren Dutse, Tumfafi, Kakurum, Dandalama and nearby communities in Dawakin Tofa and Ungogo local government areas to avoid the shooting range during the exercises.
The statement urged residents “not to panic” if they hear gunshots, explaining that they are “scheduled and controlled training exercises.”
The police added that all necessary safety measures had been put in place to protect lives and property throughout the training period.
“The Kano State Police Command appreciates the usual cooperation, understanding and support of the good people of Kano State,” it added.
