The Oyo State Post Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has assured teachers and students affected by the recent abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of sustained government support as they recover from the trauma of the incident.
The assurance was given when a delegation led by the Chairman of TESCOM, Mrs Olubukola Oladipo, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Serifat Abimbola, and other senior officials of the commission, visited the affected teachers, students and their families on Thursday.
The visit was aimed at expressing the government’s concern over the incident and reaffirming its commitment to the welfare, safety and recovery of the victims.
Oladipo commended the courage and resilience of the victims in the face of the traumatic experience, assuring them that the government would not abandon them.
She said, “Government will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure that you return to your normal activities.”
The TESCOM Chairman also said the state government was strengthening its security measures to prevent a recurrence of the incident, particularly around schools and communities.
She said, “Government is putting in place new safety mechanisms to ensure that such security issues are not repeated in the state.”
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mrs Serifat Abimbola, urged the affected teachers and students not to lose hope over the incident.

Abimbola, who distributed gifts and other relief materials to the victims, said the government was concerned about their physical and emotional wellbeing following the ordeal.
She said the support being provided was part of efforts to assist the victims in their recovery from the psychological impact of the experience.
She added that measures were being put in place to strengthen security and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Responding on behalf of the victims, one of the affected teachers expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Government and TESCOM for visiting them, describing the gesture as a source of comfort and encouragement.
The visit ended with prayers for the victims and their families, alongside renewed calls for improved security around public schools and communities across the state.
