Oyo State Government has carried out an inspection of its CCTV surveillance facilities in different parts of Ibadan as part of efforts to improve security and strengthen crime prevention across the state.
The inspection was led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr. Abayomi Fagbenro (Bibire), who visited major locations including Mokola, Mapo, Molete, Challenge, Oke Ado, and other areas where CCTV cameras have been installed.
Speaking during the exercise, Bibire said the inspection reflects Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to ensuring that security facilities provided by the government continue to function effectively.

He said the governor remains focused on building a security system that can quickly respond to threats and help keep residents safe.
According to him, the inspection was aimed at checking the condition of the CCTV facilities, identifying areas that need repairs or upgrades, and ensuring that the surveillance system is working properly.
“The purpose of this inspection is to assess the condition of the surveillance facilities, identify areas that need attention, and make sure the system is operating effectively,” he said.
Bibire added that the government is also considering installing more CCTV cameras in strategic locations across the state to improve coverage and reduce security gaps.
“We are looking at areas where more cameras may be needed so that we can cover more locations, reduce blind spots, and improve our ability to monitor activities across the state,” he said.
The retired US Navy veteran noted that security requires constant attention and regular improvements.
He said the government’s goal is to ensure that residents, visitors, investors, and business owners can go about their daily activities without fear.
Bibire described the CCTV network as an important part of the state’s security and emergency response system.
“The surveillance network plays a key role in Governor Seyi Makinde’s security strategy because it provides real-time information that supports monitoring, investigations, and quick response to incidents,” he said.
He also revealed that the CCTV facilities are linked to the state’s 615 Emergency Centre and other security response channels, making it easier for security agencies to respond quickly when necessary.
Bibire further stated that the Makinde administration has continued to support security agencies through the provision of operational vehicles, communication equipment, logistics, intelligence resources, and other forms of assistance.
“Since 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde has consistently supported security agencies because security remains the foundation for development,” he said.
He added that the progress recorded in the state’s security sector has been made possible through strong collaboration among security agencies, the support given to Amotekun, improved emergency response systems, and cooperation from residents.
“We have strengthened cooperation among security agencies, supported Amotekun, improved emergency response systems, and encouraged residents to provide useful information,” he said.
Bibire urged residents to remain vigilant and make use of the 615 emergency line whenever they noticed anything that could threaten public peace and safety.
He assured residents that the state government would continue to review and improve its security system to meet current security challenges.
“We will continue to strengthen our security arrangements, provide the needed resources, and adopt practical solutions that will help keep Oyo State safe for everyone,” he said.
The inspection is part of the Oyo State Government’s ongoing efforts to maintain a reliable surveillance network that supports effective policing, crime prevention, intelligence gathering, and quick response to emergencies across the state.
