Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lost his Osogbo Local Government to the incumbent governor and candidate of Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke.
According to the results declared by the official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Osogbo LG Collation Centre, the Accord Party polled 36,480 votes while APC got 30,474 votes and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 1,503 votes.
Earlier, Tribune Online reports that the APC Scribe secured victory at his polling unit 003, Alagba Osogbo, for his party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polling 177 votes while Adeleke’s Accord got 60 votes.
Addressing journalists after casting his vote earlier on Saturday, Basiru applauded residents of the state for coming out to vote, saying the turnout reflected the electorate’s commitment to democratic governance and participation in the electoral process.
The APC National Secretary further commended security agencies for maintaining order during the exercise.
According to him, the deployment of security personnel has helped ensure a peaceful environment at polling centres across the state.
