A member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has declared that the North-West has chosen President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, expressing confidence that the President will secure a second term.
Kwankwaso spoke on the sidelines of the formal flag-off of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna on Saturday, describing the large turnout at the rally as a demonstration of support for Tinubu ahead of the election.
Speaking to journalists at the VIP Pavilion, he said the gathering had sent a clear message about the position of the North-West in the emerging presidential contest.
“Today, we of the North-West geopolitical zone have spoken loud and clear on who we stand for. Our choice of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains our commitment to a better Nigeria and national cohesion,” Kwankwaso said.
He said the Kaduna rally was not merely a political mobilisation exercise but also an opportunity for the North to demonstrate its commitment to national unity and continued development under the Tinubu administration.
According to him, the President’s return to office would provide an opportunity to strengthen equitable development and ensure a fair distribution of resources among the country’s six geopolitical zones.
“Tinubu’s presidency stands for fair and equitable distribution of resources to all zones, and his return will be a blessing to the greater Nigeria of our dream,” he said.
Kwankwaso dismissed suggestions that northern support for Tinubu was driven by political expediency, insisting that the region would honour its commitment to the President in the 2027 election.
“Asiwaju is the northern candidate, and he will not promote anything outside his ambition because we are trustworthy people, and we shall deliver him come 2027,” he declared.
He urged political stakeholders and Nigerians across the country to prioritise national unity and collective progress, arguing that the Kaduna rally had demonstrated the support Tinubu enjoys among sections of the North-West ahead of the presidential election.
