The Zamfara state commissioner for Health Dr Aisha Anka has disclosed that Health sector has received boost in the state, saying in the past twelve months there is no report of single case of circulating polio virus in the state.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Anka, made the disclosure during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the ultra-modern hospital in Talata Mafara town, located in the local government area of the state.
Dr. Anka revealed that since the beginning of Governor Lawal’s administration and the declaration of a State of Emergency in the Health Sector as part of the rescue Mission Agenda, the health sector has achieved tremendous success.
According to her, some of the remarkable projects by the state Governor include; provision of free ante-natal care services across the state, free hospital deliveries and distribution of Mama Kits, free emergency caesarian section and distribution of over 3 Million doses of Anti-Malaria Drugs for Children of under 5 years.
Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the recruitment of healthcare workers using a community-based selection approach.
Additionally, 2 Toyota Hilux vehicles and 28 motorcycles will be distributed to HIV/AIDS and TB program officers. Essential drugs will also be distributed to all primary, secondary, and tertiary health facilities across the state. This is commendable progress.
“For the past twelve months there is no single case of circulating polio virus reported in state following the unwavering supports offered by the state Governor to the health sector”.
“Today we stand on the threshold of a new chapter in our commitment to advancing healthcare service delivery for the good people of Zamfara State and this project symbolizes not just the promise of a new facility, but a fulfillment of His Exellency’s promise to the People of Talata Mafara Local Government and its surrounding communities,” she said
According to the commissioner, the new hospital will also be equipped with the State-of -the –art facilities that are designed to support the provision of a comprehensive health care.
“Therefore the hospital, will not only address current healthcare needs, but also anticipate future demands and ensure that our communities receive the higher standard of care,” She stressed.
