Babcock University (BU), Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has sustained its academic excellence with nine law graduates achieving First Class Honours in the November 2024 Nigerian Law School Bar Part II final examination.
Dr Joshua Suleiman, BU’s Director of Communication and Public Relations, announced that the results, released by the Council of Legal Education, indicate a BU graduate may rank as the third overall best candidate nationwide, reinforcing the university’s reputation for producing top legal talent.
Suleiman highlighted BU’s rigorous training and innovative curriculum at its School of Law and Security Studies, stating, “This outstanding feat highlights the impact of Babcock University’s rigorous academic training, forward-thinking curriculum, and the dedication of faculty members.”
He outlined BU’s history of success: in 2013, Oladeinbo Gilbert won Best Student in Law in Practice; in 2016, two graduates earned First Class, with Adonu Geoffrey as Best Overall Male and second-best candidate; in 2017, two more secured First Class; in 2019, ten graduates achieved First Class, with Abiru Mayowa as overall best, winning 13 prizes; in 2022, six earned First Class; and in 2023, a record 21 graduates achieved First Class, with Echebiri Mary-Ann Goodness and Labisi Oluwatamiloreayo Elizabeth earning third prizes in Civil Litigation and Professional Ethics, respectively.
Prof. Dorcas Odunaike, Dean of the School of Law and Security Studies, said: “These continued successes are a reflection of our commitment to academic excellence and our goal of nurturing legal professionals who will lead with integrity, competence, and courage. We are proud of our students and confident they will contribute meaningfully to the legal profession both nationally and globally.”
Suleiman affirmed BU’s mission to deliver quality education, positioning it as a leading institution for legal education in Nigeria.
