The Commander, Infantry Corps, Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, has charged troops of the Headquarters 27 Task Force Brigade, Sector 2, Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, to remain aggressive, professional, and committed in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations against Boko Haram Terrorists and Islamic State West Africa Province elements in the North-East.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 27 Task Force Brigade Buni-Gari, Gujba LGA, Yobe State, Lieutenant Tasi’u Abbas, said Mutkut gave the charge on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, during an assessment visit to the Brigade Headquarters, where he reviewed the unit’s operational activities and interacted with officers and soldiers.
The corps commander commended the troops for their courage, resilience, and sacrifices in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity despite the challenges confronting the military in the theatre of operations.
Addressing the personnel, Mutkut stressed the need to maintain sustained pressure on terrorist groups, noting that denying them freedom of action remained critical to achieving operational success.
“Sustained operational pressure on the terrorists remains the key to denying them freedom of action,” he said.
He urged the troops to maintain high levels of vigilance, discipline, combat readiness, and offensive spirit, warning that there must be no room for complacency in the fight against insurgency.
The Army commander also reminded the troops to remain law-abiding and disciplined while carrying out their duties.
He cautioned them against actions capable of undermining military operations and the image of the Nigerian Army.
He specifically advised personnel to avoid social media misconduct, revealing operational locations, smoking, drug abuse, and other social vices.
Mutkut assured the troops of the Nigerian Army’s continued commitment to their welfare, describing good leadership as a key factor in achieving operational success.
“Remain loyal, professional, and steadfast in the discharge of your constitutional responsibilities while maintaining the highest standards of military discipline and conduct,” he urged.
Earlier, the Commander of 27 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Mukhtar S. Mukhtar, welcomed the Infantry Corps Commander and expressed appreciation for the visit.
He said the visit would boost the morale of officers and soldiers while reaffirming the Brigade’s determination to sustain aggressive operations against terrorist elements within its area of responsibility.
“The Brigade remains committed to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at eliminating the remnants of terrorist elements within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility,” Brigadier General Mukhtar said.
The visit featured an operational briefing, inspection of facilities and equipment, interaction with troops, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
The Nigerian Army said the engagement reflects its continued commitment to improving operational effectiveness and supporting efforts toward restoring lasting peace and security in the North-East and the country at large.
