Nigeria is targeting increased Spanish investment and partnerships to unlock the potential of its blue economy, as the Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, engaged stakeholders at the 27th International Frozen Seafood Exhibition, CONXEMAR 2026, in Vigo, Galicia, Spain.
Ikpeazu participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition at the IFEVI Exhibition Centre on Tuesday, where he held side engagements with CONXEMAR officials and representatives of companies operating in the packaging, marine and fisheries-related industries.
The engagements are part of efforts by the Nigerian Embassy in Spain to promote investment opportunities in Nigeria’s blue economy and attract Spanish businesses and technical partnerships to the country.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Xunta de Galicia, senior representatives of the Spanish Government, the President of CONXEMAR, the Mayor of Vigo, members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, business leaders and stakeholders in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
CONXEMAR 2026 is the 27th edition of the International Frozen Seafood Exhibition and one of the major global trade fairs dedicated to the frozen seafood industry.
The exhibition provides a platform for businesses and stakeholders across the fisheries, aquaculture, marine and seafood value chains to explore commercial partnerships and investment opportunities.
The Embassy’s engagements with Spanish companies focused on opportunities for collaboration in sectors including packaging, marine services, fisheries and aquaculture, with the broader objective of supporting the development of Nigeria’s blue economy.
Through the engagements, the Embassy is seeking to strengthen economic relations between Nigeria and Spain while positioning the country to benefit from Spanish expertise, investment and partnerships in the marine and fisheries sectors.
