Niger State At Risk Children Programme ARC-P has officially enrolled 1000 out-of-school children into the State’s Contributory Healthcare Insurance Scheme (NiCare) from age 5 to 24 years, at Barikin Sale Model Primary School, Chanchaga Local Government Area, of the State on Tuesday 19th November 2024.
The enrolment is part of effort towards integrating out-of-school children into mainstream formal education to combat and eradicate the menace.
In her speech, to the beneficiaries, the Team Lead and Coordinator of Niger State At Risk Children Program ARC-P, Aisha Umar Tafida, during the flag-off ceremony applauded the partnership and collaboration between Niger State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme NICARE and ARC-P towards providing services and opportunities to out of School Children in the State.
She said, “The event is a collective effort in securing a brighter future of Niger State At-Risk Children”.
Also Speaking, the representatives of the Executive Secretary of NICARE, Ramatu Ismail, noted that NICARE is a financing social health insurance scheme, stressing that, “we operates on the principle of risk sharing and pooling resources for the provision of affordable, accessible and qualitative Healthcare to Nigerlites on sustainable basis”.
Also, the Programme Officer of NiCare, Habitat Umar, added that the Contributory Healthcare Insurance Scheme for At-Risk Children who are out of School would be a reliable and affordable service that is possible for the beneficiaries to enroll to receive quality Healthcare without paying at the point of need.
Similarly, the ARC-P Facilitator for Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, Maricus Yohanna, reiterated that the enrollment of 1000 out-of-school children in Chanchaga is a fundamental right of the At-Risk Children to access good health and to be integrated into the formal education to contribute to the State’s economic development.
Representative of the Mai-Anguwan (Village Head) of Barikin Sale, Zakka Umar, emphasised that the 1000 enrollment of the At-Risk Children in their domain will go a long way to provide good health care that can support indigent to have access to services which is paid on their behalf.
It is noted that the enrolled 1000 beneficiaries of At-Risk Children in the State would be treated under the NICARE insurance scheme in the following health challenges of hypertension, diabetes, management of snake bites, laboratory investigation, malaria, and cataract extraction.
