Yusuf Datti-Hussaini, member representing Dawakin-Kudu Constituency of the Kano State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, has pledged to provide effective representation to his constituents.
Datti-Hussaini made the pledge while addressing newsmen on Tuesday after he was sworn in as a member of the assembly, saying he would not be a bench warmer.
He vowed to operate an open-door and transparent administration while promising to work diligently to improve the welfare and livelihoods of the people of his constituency.
“I will not be here to sleep or abandon my seat. I will make sure I fully represent the people of my area in order to uplift their livelihoods,” he said.
The lawmaker also promised to sustain the achievements of his predecessor, particularly by following up on motions already raised on the floor of the house and initiating new ones capable of attracting meaningful and impactful projects to the constituency.
“I urge them to follow all programmes and sittings of the house to ensure that all that is being allocated to them, I bring to them, and whatever is missing, I urge them to ask me.
“I promise them that I am not here to cheat them, but I will work to the best of my ability for the betterment of my society and the state in general,” the lawmaker said.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Datti-Hussaini was elected to fill the vacant Kano Assembly seat following the movement of the former occupant to the House of Representatives.
In another development, the House confirmed the reappointment of Gambo Sallau as Chairman of the Kano State Assembly Service Commission.
Sallau, a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, was reappointed to head the commission.
