The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has dislodged six notorious drug hotspots across the Kano metropolis, arresting 15 suspects and recovering various illicit substances.
The operation, conducted based on intelligence, targeted drug joints at Farm Centre, Kofar Nasarawa, Diga Nasarawa, Dakata (Zango), Filin Polo and Hausawa.
Items recovered during the raids included varying quantities of Cannabis sativa, pentazocine injections, pregabalin and Exol-5 tablets.
The Commander of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, CN DY Lawal, said the operations followed intelligence assessments that identified the affected locations as areas associated with drug trafficking and abuse.
Lawal said the command would sustain pressure on drug hotspots across Kano while combining enforcement with non-kinetic approaches, including public sensitisation and community partnerships.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to sustaining pressure on drug hotspots within Kano and beyond,” he said.
The commander warned individuals involved in the illicit drug trade against continuing their activities, stressing that the agency would not allow them to operate with impunity.
He urged those engaged in the illicit business to abandon it and embrace legitimate means of livelihood.
According to a statement issued by the command’s Media and Advocacy Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the 15 suspects are currently in NDLEA custody and will be processed in accordance with extant laws as investigations continue.
The command also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist the agency in identifying and dismantling other drug networks across the state.
