The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has described the death of late Colonel Adetokunbo Olorunfemi Ojomo (retd) as a great loss to the Nigerian Army, his family, the military community and the nation.
Mahmuda stated this in his funeral oration during the burial of the late senior officer, who was laid to rest with full military honours at the All Saints Church Cemetery, Jericho, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Represented at the ceremony by the Commander, 42 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General Uche Okoroji, the GOC paid tribute to Ojomo, describing him as a disciplined, dedicated and professional officer who made significant contributions to the Nigerian Army and humanity during his years of service.

According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, 2 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, the GOC recalled the late officer’s commitment to duty and leadership, noting that his departure had left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and served with him.
Major General Mahmuda commended the late colonel’s service to the nation, while expressing condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
At the graveside, Lieutenant (Rev.) Amos Unenge offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
The prayers were followed by the sounding of the Last Post, prescribed military honours and a final salute.
The remains of the late Colonel Ojomo were subsequently lowered into the grave amid solemn reflections and emotional tributes from family members, friends and colleagues.
