The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kebbi State has declared Umar Hassan-Augie winner of the fresh primary election for Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency with 33,013 votes.
Hassan-Augie defeated his challenger, Samir Salihu-Felande, who polled 1,319 votes in the exercise conducted on Saturday across the constituency’s 21 wards.
The returning officer for the primary and leader of the APC National Committee, Alhaji Shehu Kawu-Damina, announced the results on Sunday.
Kawu-Damina said 34,332 votes were cast in the election, while the constituency had 44,784 registered delegates.
He declared Hassan-Augie the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives, saying he secured the highest number of votes cast.
The fresh primary followed a ruling by the Federal High Court in Birnin Kebbi on October 15, which nullified the earlier exercise and ordered the party to conduct another primary within two weeks.
