THE Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Lagelu & District Society has pledged continued partnership with the Oyo State government on the economic development of the state.
Chairman of the district, Mr Patterson Orevonyevwe Ariemuduigho, stated this during a press briefing held ahead of the 2026 Investiture Week activities, in Ibadan, the state capital.
Ariemuduigho, who is the second chairman of the district noted “When the goverment is considering its fiscal policies, deciding on budget, ICAN has always been involved in the budgeting process of Oyo State. Through the special advisers, the government has been calling for our inputs and attendance of the budgeting process up to when it is taking to the House of Assembly.
“That has been the process in the past, and we believe that the partnership has been working to the benefits of both parties.
And so, going forward, it is not something we we will want to jettison, it is a way feel we can add value to the Oyo State budgeting process and the financial process. To our members, it is also a way of exposing us to the government and when there is the need to criticise budgetary processes, we also focus on that. So, the partnership is something we want to sustain with the Oyo state government as a state where we reside.”
Speaking on the weeklong activities which highpoint is the investiture of the chairman, and other executive members, Chairman, Investiture committee, Dr Yemi Odebunmi, said
Over the next week, Lagelu & District Society will be executing programmes designed to add value to our members, impact and contribute meaningfully to national economic discourse, adding that this week will reflect the core values that ICAN stands for.
Odebunmi, stated further that a public lecture addressing critical issues bordering on accounting, economy, and society, has been scheduled for Wednesday, to followed by a visit to strategic stakeholders in the state, including the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Ibadan office, to deepen institutional partnerships.
He informed that the grand investiture swearing-in of the 2026/2027 Executive committee, will hold on Saturday, at Aweni Hall, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
