Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has officially inaugurated a 40-bed Trauma Centre at Ikorodu General Hospital and commissioned the Lambo Lasunwon Road, a vital 1.6-kilometre roadway connecting four communities in the Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
These projects were initiated by Hon. Jimi Benson, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
During the ceremonies held on Monday, Dr. Hamzat emphasized the importance of electing representatives dedicated to the welfare of their constituents, urging Nigerians to prioritize leaders who exhibit good character and commitment to community development.
Dr. Hamzat praised Hon. Benson for his effective representation, stating, “We must bring something from the Federal to the state.”
He called on the public to seek out leaders with integrity and virtue, highlighting that leadership should go beyond mere electoral support.

The deputy governor acknowledged the progress made in Lagos regarding infrastructural development, noting that the state has 9,189 roads, with approximately 69 percent tarred.
He assured that the government is focused on constructing durable and long-lasting roads, comparing Nigeria’s current challenges to a patient undergoing surgery—painful now, but leading to healing and strength in the future.
He encouraged Nigerians to remain optimistic about the country’s prospects and to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state governors, asking for divine guidance in their leadership roles.
In his address, Hon. Benson hailed the commissioning of the Lambo Lasunwon Road as a significant achievement in his efforts to connect communities and empower the populace.
He described the road as a gateway to prosperity, facilitating opportunities for Micro, Small, and Medium-scale businesses and benefiting local students from LASUSTECH.
Benson also stressed the necessity of the trauma centre in the community, asserting that it would provide crucial emergency responses and save lives, especially compared to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Hon. Adeola Banjo, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, reflected on the importance of the Lambo Lasunwon Road, noting its role as a lifeline for over three decades.
He recounted the challenges faced by residents, particularly during the rainy season, highlighting how poor road conditions disrupted daily life.
Additionally, Dr. Hamzat paid a courtesy visit to the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, at his palace, furthering his engagement with the local community.
