The Gombe State House of Assembly Service Commission has approved the promotion of twenty-eight staff and ratified the retirement of six others during its maiden full-Commission sitting held on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.
The sitting was chaired by the Commission’s Chairman, Rt Hon Sadiq Abubakar Ibrahim, to approve the promotion of the officers from various cadres, as recommended by the Senior and Junior Establishment Committees of the State Assembly and the Assembly Service Commission respectively.
The seven-member Commission also ratified the retirement of six (6) officers from the service after they had served the State meritoriously for the mandatory 35 years.
In his welcome address, the Chairman reaffirmed his commitment, and that of the Commission’s members, to the task given to them by the State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, in handling all issues pertaining to staff welfare in accordance with the Commission’s establishment law.
In another development, the Commission received the leadership of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), representing both the House of Assembly and Assembly Service Commission chapters, on a courtesy visit.
The leadership noted that they were at the Commission’s headquarters to congratulate the new Chairman and members on their appointment by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, and pledged their total support at all times.
The leadership further appealed to the Chairman for prompt staff promotions as and when due, training and retraining, workshops, and payment of wardrobe allowance for staff.
Responding to the visit, the Chairman expressed gratitude to the PASAN leadership for the visit and assured them of his commitment to working closely as partners in progress for the betterment of the Commission and the state.
While noting that the issues raised would be looked into, the Chairman used the occasion to task staff to buckle up and live up to their responsibilities, stressing that the Commission, under his watch, will not tolerate laziness or absenteeism from duty.
