The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology annually calls for applications for the GIST Scholarship for international students to study in South Korea.
The GIST Scholarship is a fully funded award covering the tuition, travel, health and stipends for incoming Master’s and PhD students who are willing to study in South Korea.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the GIST Scholarship, you must:
- Be a domestic or international student
- Hold a bachelors degree
- Meet the English or Korean Language requirements of the university.
Benefits
The GIST Scholarship covers;
- Tuition fully supported: 3,607,000 won per semester
- Monthly stipend for all international students
- Student allowance: 140,000 won per month for M.S. students, 295,000 won per month for Ph.D. students
- Meal allowance: nearly 120,000 won per month
- ※Students should have completed at least 9 credits in the previous semester for the above two.
- International student allowance: 120,000 won per month
- Research Stipend for students participating in research projects
- 6,400,000 won per year of M.S.
- 13,740,000 won per year of Ph.D
- Housing (All Students)
- Health Insurance (All International Students)
- Annual medical checkup
- Flight Reimbursement (All Incoming International Students)

- Applicant’s passport
- English Proficiency Tests score
Applicants may be permitted to apply for admission with an English Proficiency letter to the Institute and may be given conditional admission.
