The Kazeem and Juweirat Education Foundation has donated 50 acres of land to the Iseyin Development Union (IDU) for the proposed construction of a correctional centre in Iseyin, Oyo State.
The donation, described as part of the foundation’s commitment to the development and growth of Iseyin and its environs, was formally presented on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the palace of the Aseyin of Iseyin, HRM Oba Sefiu Olawale Ajirotutu I.
Alhaji Waheed Shittu Owonikoko, who represented the foundation and the Owonikoko’s family, presented the land document to the Aseyin, who subsequently handed it over to the President, Iseyin Development Union, Home and Abroad, Alhaji Mubashiru Azeez.
The presentation was witnessed by members of the IDU executive and the Chairman of the Iseyin Council of Societies (ICS), Mr Ganiyu Soliu Keji.

Speaking during the presentation, Owonikoko said the donation was consistent with the foundation’s longstanding commitment to supporting initiatives capable of promoting the development of Iseyin and neighbouring communities.
He reiterated the foundation’s determination to facilitate projects that would have meaningful and lasting impacts on the community, stressing that the proposed correctional centre was among the initiatives intended to contribute to the overall development of the area.
Receiving the document on behalf of the IDU, Oba Ajirotutu said the proposed correctional centre would contribute to the economic development of Iseyin and its environs.
The monarch said the project had the potential to attract increased human and institutional activities to the community, strengthen security and create employment opportunities for residents.
Oba Ajirotutu also addressed what he described as insinuations surrounding the proposed project, particularly suggestions that the land could have been used for investments or companies.
He explained that the correctional centre should be viewed from the perspective of its potential contribution to the wider development of Iseyin, rather than solely from the standpoint of alternative commercial uses of the land.
The Aseyin thereafter formally presented the land document to Alhaji Mubashiru Azeez, who expressed appreciation to the Kazeem and Juweirat Education Foundation and the family of the late Alhaji Kazeem Omosalewa Owonikoko for the gesture.
Azeez prayed for continued strength and success for the foundation and the Owonikoko family, while also praying for the repose of the soul of late Alhaji Kazeem Omosalewa Owonikoko to rest in perfect peace and his wife, Alhaja Juweirat Owonikoko to live longer.
He further acknowledged the contributions of Mr Oyelayo Kehinde and others whose efforts, according to him, were instrumental to the realisation of the proposed correctional centre.
The donated 50-acre parcel of land is located at Odò-Ògùn, along the Iseyin–Ado-Awaye Road.
The proposed facility is expected to serve as a correctional centre for individuals convicted by courts of competent jurisdiction and sentenced to custodial punishment.
