The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has disclosed details of his meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Patrick Egloff.
According to him, their discussions centred on Nigeria’s development priorities, including education, healthcare and poverty reduction.
Obi, who shared details of the meeting in a statement on Tuesday, said he also expressed appreciation to the Swiss Confederation for its contributions to Nigeria’s development, particularly its humanitarian and peace-building support in the North-East.

According to the former Anambra State governor, the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in sectors critical to improving the lives of Nigerians.
“Yesterday, I met with the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Egloff, and we had a productive and engaging discussion on our country’s developmental journey, with particular emphasis on the critical sectors that drive development: education, healthcare, and lifting people out of poverty,” Obi said.
He thanked Switzerland for its continued partnership with Nigeria, particularly its support for economic, cultural and humanitarian initiatives.
“I expressed my gratitude for the invaluable contributions of the Swiss Confederation to Nigeria’s development, especially its support for critical economic, cultural, humanitarian, and peace-building initiatives, particularly in the North-East,” he added.
Obi stressed the importance of expanding international partnerships built on shared values and a commitment to human development.
“Building stronger partnerships founded on shared values and a commitment to human development remains essential to creating a more prosperous and inclusive Nigeria,” he said.
The meeting comes as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election, with Obi flying the NDC’s presidential ticket alongside his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
