Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has relaxed the previously imposed 7 pm to 7 am curfew on Ifon and Ilobu communities, following the relative peace now being recorded in the two towns.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Kolapo Alimi, the governor announced that the curfew will now be in effect from 10 pm to 4 am, starting today, Sunday, March 2, 2025.
Governor Adeleke expressed satisfaction that peace is gradually returning to the affected communities.
The statement read, “His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, has expressed happiness and satisfaction with the gradual return to peace in the embattled communities of Ifon and Ilobu over land disputes.

“Though peace has not been fully restored, Governor Adeleke is convinced that it is only a matter of time before total peace is attained in the communities.
“Accordingly, the governor has directed that the initial 7 pm to 7 am curfew imposed on the two communities by his administration in the wake of the crisis on January 16, 2025, be relaxed from the previous 12-hour restriction to six hours daily. The new curfew hours, from 10 pm to 4 am, take effect today, Sunday, March 2, 2025, until total peace is fully restored.
“Furthermore, Mr. Governor has directed that all security personnel, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, continue to maintain 24-hour surveillance in the affected communities.
“All stakeholders in the communities are urged to cooperate with the state government in resolving the issues amicably.
“Finally, His Excellency calls on all sons and daughters of the two communities, including their traditional rulers and other stakeholders, to use this holy month of Ramadan to pray for lasting peace and harmony.
“Mr. Governor also reiterates his earlier appeal and warning that anyone found instigating or participating in any further breakdown of law and order, thereby disrupting the peace efforts in the two communities, will face the full wrath of the law,” the statement concluded.
