The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has issued a final warning to individuals spreading false information about its ongoing recruitment exercise, threatening criminal prosecution for offenders.
In a public notice signed by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Okeh Juliet, on behalf of the Secretary to the Board on Sunday, CDCFIB said it had observed a wave of disinformation circulating on social media platforms concerning the recruitment process, and warned that such misleading content was undermining the efforts of genuine applicants.
The Board urged members of the public to verify all information online rather than rely on unauthorised sources, noting that the spread of false claims about the exercise constitutes a criminal offence under extant laws.
According to the notice, CDCFIB is working with security agencies and law enforcement bodies to track down those responsible for fabricating and circulating the false reports, stressing that violators would be identified, prosecuted and sanctioned.
The Board described the notice as a final warning to social media users and account holders engaged in propagating falsehoods linked to the recruitment process, adding that it would not hesitate to take action against anyone found culpable.
CDCFIB further advised applicants and stakeholders to depend solely on its official recruitment portal, recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng, and other verified communication channels for accurate updates on the exercise.
