The Confederation of African Football has confirmed key dates and host countries for its major 2026-27 competitions, with the organisation saying the move will provide greater certainty for Member Associations, commercial partners and supporters.
In a statement published on its website on Monday, CAF said it had made “significant progress in strengthening its Competitions calendar”.
“The increasingly stable calendar reflects CAF’s continued commitment to strengthening its existing Competitions while developing important new properties that will create additional opportunities at senior and youth level,” the statement said.
CAF said the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027 would be held from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with the qualifying competition beginning in September 2026.
South Africa to host CAF Super Cup
According to CAF, the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup will be staged in Tshwane, South Africa, on November 8, 2026.
The match will feature TotalEnergies CAF Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns against TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup holders USM Alger.
CAF said the fixture would kick off at 3pm local time (1pm GMT).
Ghana, Morocco, Egypt to host youth competitions
CAF also announced host countries for its major youth competitions.
Ghana will host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in February and March 2027, while Morocco will stage the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in April and May.
Egypt will host the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
CAF said it was also studying the feasibility of establishing a new CAF U-17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, with a view to launching the competition next year if the necessary sporting and organisational requirements are met.
The proposed competition, CAF said, would provide another competitive pathway for young female players.
Morocco will host the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations from October 12 to 21, 2026, while Senegal will host the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in November.
CAF interclub competitions
At club level, CAF said the draws for the preliminary rounds of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2026/27 had been completed.
The first preliminary round of both competitions will take place from September 4 to 6, with the return legs scheduled for September 11 to 13.
CAF also said work had advanced on the proposed African Nations League, with the competition format discussed by its Executive Committee.
“The progress across these competitions is an important step in CAF’s objective of creating a more stable and predictable African football calendar,” the statement said.
CAF added that greater certainty around dates and host countries would allow Member Associations to plan more effectively while giving players clearer competitive pathways and providing broadcasters, sponsors and supporters with greater visibility around major events.
