Former Benue State African Democratic Congress (ADC) leading contender for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency seat, Hon. Amb. Lilian Adoyi-Ofiebor, has formally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement on Monday, Lilian said the decision followed deep reflection on the political realities of the constituency.
She stated that the PDP’s values, grassroots orientation and respect for the sanctity of the ballot align squarely with her convictions on service, inclusive governance and purposeful representation.
Citing Article 21 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Abraham Lincoln’s definition of democracy as “government of the people, by the people, and for the people,” she stressed that the will of the people must remain the bedrock of everybody’s political aspiration.
She also reaffirmed her commitment to the zoning arrangement between Otukpo and Ohimini, describing it as a sacred covenant of fairness, equity and unity.
She declared unequivocally that it is the turn of Ohimini Local Government Area to produce the next member to represent the constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
“My aspiration is not about personal ambition, but about equity, inclusion and purposeful leadership that ensures every community in the constituency is seen, heard and feels valued,” she said.
