The member representing the Kaduna North Federal Constituency at the Lower Chamber, Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai has given hope to the less privileged sickle cell patients of the Sickle Cell Patient Health Promotion Centre (SCPHPC), located in Badrawa /Malali ward of Kaduna North local government area of the state by donating funds to buy routine drugs for the patients.
Represented byState Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Jamil Haruna a permanent member of Kaduna state universal basic education board, Bello El-Rufai donated N2m for the sickle cell patients at the centre.
He said the money should be used to purchase routine drugs for the sickler who are of the lower cadre in the society and could not afford to buy their drugs.
Receiving the donation on Friday, the Founder/Coordinator of the Centre, Hajiya Badiya Magaji Inuwa, while appreciating the kind gesture of Bello El-Rufai said his kind and generous donation would not be taken for granted.

“On behalf of the SCPHPC, I wish to use this medium to thank and appreciate Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai who is Chairman, Committee on Banking Regulation of the Federal House of Representatives for his cash support, which was specifically towards procurement of routine and life-supportive drugs.
“This will no doubt go a long way to sustaining our clinics that were being conducted weekly. I wish to emphasize that the Drugs would help in reducing the number of crises among our patients, and we have nothing much to say. Then Allah will continue to protect and uphold him as he continues to serve his fatherland and humanity.
“We provide free routine and life-supportive drugs to the poor and needy sickle cell patients in the community through conducting weekly clinics, creating awareness about sickle cell anemia, and also supporting the less privileged sicklers with vocational skills to empower them to be more productive.
“I will equally wish to use this medium to call on well-meaning Nigerians and other corporate organizations to join hands in supporting sicklers by ensuring they live a happy life with minimal pain crisis
“I will not forget to thank those who have been supporting the SCPHPC from its inception to date. May the Al-Mighty Allah reward every one of you in multitudes.” She said ” She said
It would be recalled that the Sickle Cell Patient Health Promotion Centre (SCPHPC), which was established 16 years ago, now has over 8,000 patients who benefitted from the free clinical and routine drug services.
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) has a severe impact on Patients especially the less privileged
SCD affects nearly 100 million people globally and is responsible for over 50% of deaths in those with the most severe form of the disease. It contributes to an annual infant death toll of 100,000, representing 8%of infant mortality
