The Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, has commended the state’s Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme, saying it is contributing to crime reduction by equipping youths with entrepreneurial skills and creating opportunities for self-reliance.
The commendation was conveyed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command during a visit to the office of the Special Adviser to Governor Douye Diri on Entrepreneurship Development.
According to a statement released by the Special Adviser on Friday, the PPRO said he was directed by the Commissioner of Police to personally deliver the message of appreciation.
The statement quoted the police commissioner as saying the impact of the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme was evident across the state.
He said, “The work your office is doing in promoting entrepreneurship development through the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme is commendable.
“The positive impact of the programme is evident across Bayelsa State, as it has helped reduce crime by equipping youths with practical skills, creating opportunities for self-reliance and taking many young people off the streets.”
The commissioner also praised Governor Douye Diri for prioritising youth empowerment.
He said, “Governor Douye Diri deserves commendation for his visionary leadership and commitment to empowering Bayelsa youths through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.”
Responding, the Special Adviser expressed appreciation to the police commissioner for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue supporting the state’s entrepreneurship agenda.
He said, “I am sincerely grateful to the Commissioner of Police for this great honour and for sending the Police Public Relations Officer to personally deliver this encouraging message.
“It is a reminder that you may not always know who is watching your work, but dedication, commitment and genuine service will always speak for themselves.”
He added, “This recognition is not just an encouragement to me but to everyone in my office, whose commitment and hard work continue to make a positive impact on the lives of Bayelsans.

The statement added that the police commissioner pledged the command’s full collaboration with the office in advancing entrepreneurship development and skills acquisition as tools for enhancing security, peace and sustainable economic growth in the state.
