Former member of the House of Representatives and strong financier of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon. Ibezi formally joined the NDC, declaring support for the presidential ambition of Mr Peter Obi and the re-election bid of Senator Victor Umeh, who represents Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Ibezi, popularly known as Ochiagha Idemili, was officially received into the party on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at a ceremony attended by Umeh and other party chieftains, marking a new phase in the former federal lawmaker’s political journey.

His exit from APGA has been described as a major blow to the party and its candidates in his area of political strength ahead of the forthcoming election.
Speaking at a reception organised in his honour, the former lawmaker expressed support for the NDC candidates for the Idemili North and South and Orumba North and South federal constituencies, Eric Anyamene and Hon. Okwudili Nwankwo, respectively.

He said: “We will work hard to deliver all NDC candidates in our area. That is the assurance I am giving, and together with my supporters, we will make it happen.”
He was received into the party alongside hundreds of his supporters from the Idemili area, who also defected from APGA and described him as their political leader, whom they would follow to any party he joined.
Receiving him into the party, Senator Umeh described Ibezi as a grassroots politician, saying his capacity to deliver was undoubted.
