Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dissolved and reconstituted the Governing Council of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), retaining Professor Adewale Abiodun Oladipo as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the new council.
The development, announced on Friday, is part of efforts by the state government to strengthen the governance structure of the university and ensure continuity in the administration of the institution.
Oladipo, who chaired the dissolved council, will continue in the same capacity under the newly constituted governing body.
Other members of the reconstituted council are Alhaji Gbadegesin Lawal, Otunba Titi Laoye-Ponnle, Mr Akinola Franklin Omoniyi, Chief Funminiyi Awotide, Mr Orija Samuel Adebayo and Mrs Adewale Adetayo Bola.
In a statement issued in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said the reconstitution was intended to prevent any gap in the operation of the university while strengthening its governance framework.

The governor charged the new council to build on the achievements recorded by UNIOSUN and work closely with the university management to drive further innovation.
Adeleke urged the members to bring their experience to bear on the continued development of the institution, stressing the need to sustain its record of excellence.
According to him, the new council is expected to provide strategic oversight for the university while supporting the management in the implementation of programmes aimed at advancing its academic and institutional objectives.
The Governing Council will be formally inaugurated on Monday, August 31, 2026.
The reconstitution gives the council a fresh mandate to oversee the affairs of the state-owned university and contribute to the consolidation of its development and academic standing, the statement added.
