The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, has stated that the state has not yet recorded any confirmed cases of the Mpox virus.
According to Dr. Obidike, some states bordering Anambra, including Delta, Ebonyi, and Abia, have reported confirmed cases of the viral disease. However, he revealed that all the suspected cases in Anambra, for which samples were taken, have returned negative results.
He explained that Anambra has activated its emergency response teams since the inception of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, which has significantly aided in the early detection of outbreaks and timely interventions.
Furthermore, Dr. Obidike disclosed that the state has health informants and Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers in all 326 wards, and these officers have been fully mobilised.
