Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, has inspected a burnt major store at the state-owned Specialist Hospital, Yola, alleging the likelihood of sabotage.
It became public knowledge towards evening on Tuesday that a store of the hospital containing furniture and equipment was torched earlier, in the night of Monday, September 2.
Observers of happenings at the hospital who were quick to recollect that the same store was destroyed by fire in June 2021, concluded that sabotage was likely.
Governor Fintiri voiced the same opinion when he visited the place on Tuesday, saying the Specialist Hospital Yola is a “collective heritage that should be collectively guarded.”
Urging the public to be vigilant against “saboteurs seeking to undermine the well-being of society,” Fintiri said his administration on its part remains steadfast in prioritizing the health sector to ensure the welfare of the people.
Fintiri was accompanied to the scene of the fire by Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, Secretary to the State Government, Auwal Tukur, among other government officials.
The state Commissioner of Health, Felix Tangwami who was also on the entourage, assured that the affected building is a passive storage for equipment and its destruction will not hamper the provision of health services.
