Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OYSACA) in collaboration with the AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN Public Health Initiative) has reiterated its commitment to putting an end to HIV Infection in Oyo State.
This was disclosed recently by the Chairman, Oyo State Agency for the Control of AIDS (OYSACA), Dr. Gbola Adetunji while paying a courtesy visit to APIN Oyo Office, at Bodija area, Ibadan.
The chairman acknowledged APIN’s partnership and support to Oyo SACA over the years and stated that they had been instrumental to the progress recorded by the state so far.
Adetunji briefed the APIN team on some new initiatives planned by the Agency and sought APIN’s support to bring them to fruition, especially some of its monthly and quarterly meetings.
He then used the opportunity to notify the Organization about the forthcoming visit of the Director General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Dr Temitope Ilori to the state.
He admonished them to join the Agency and other key stakeholders across the State in welcoming the DG to the Pace-Setter State. The visit is slated to commence from Monday, 29th April to Friday 3rd, May 2024.
Earlier in his remarks, APIN Head of Oyo State Office, Dr Olalere Olajide, thanked the Chairman and the SACA team for the visit and assured them of the Organization’s continuing partnership especially as there is a move towards sustainability and government ownership of the HIV Program in the state.
Olajide urged the chairman to use his good office to ensure that the Government procure sufficient HIV Text- Kits for the State so that it could be used for the general people to know their HIV status and to ensure that there are no new HIV infections in the state.
