A group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), PDP Crusaders Group, has commended the State Working Committee (SWC) and other stakeholders for the peaceful and credible conduct of the ward delegates’ election to elect ad-hoc delegates across the 18 local government areas of the state.
The group noted that the exercise which was in preparation towards the gubernatorial primary election on April 25 is considered as one of most peaceful in the history of delegate election of the party in the state.
The coordinator of the group, Mayokun Akinmoladun, who stated this in a statement signed by him, also hailed the National Working Committee of PDP for ensuring a free and fair ward delegate election.
He commended the party executive under the leadership of Tola Alabere, for ensuring unity among members of the party in the state, urging the party executive not to relent in building the party in the state.
He said “This is a sign of hope for the party ahead of the next gubernatorial primary election.
“The process was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and various civil society groups was reported to be mostly peaceful across the state.
Akinmoladun appealed to party leaders in the state to join hands with the party leadership and toll the path of peace and unity for the party to displace the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
He said the APC in the state has shown its inability to govern the state, saying this is evident with hunger, under development and lack of social infrastructures in the state.
The PDP has picked April 25 for the primary election of the party while seven aspirants have obtained the party nomination form to contest for the gubernatorial primary election.
The aspirants include; former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, Olusola Ebiseni; Prince John Mafo, Adeolu Akinwunmi, Bosun Aregbuwa and Kolade Akinjo.
